This week much of our attention has been devoted to getting the house ready and moving. We have been going through everything we own, trying to decided what goes with us to Cambodia and what stays. One piece of advice we hear over and over is to bring items that will make it feel like home. For me, the first thing I packed was a wooden box my grandfather made, filled with photos, letters and cards that were important to me. These are my visual memories of home. As of right now the plan is to bring four Rubber Maid totes, our carry on suitcases and a puppy with us to Cambodia.
Our house closing is next week and then we leave for training! The last of Ian’s WWII book collection left this morning and now the house feels very empty without all of our books. The puppy is very confused and keeps looking for any piece of clothing that smells like Ian and there he takes his naps. Just a few more days and we are off to Colorado Springs for training! Our training will be two weeks of culture school and two weeks of second language acquisition. I am so excited!
