Meet the rubber duck man! (Actually, frequently it’s the rubber duck woman.) This is how recycling is done in Cambodia. A person pulls a handcart while squeaking a horn that basically makes a quacking noise. They use the handcart for any cardboard and plastics they can collect. The rubber duck noise allows people to hear them coming down the street and bring out their recyclables. Often they go through the trash bins downstairs at our apartment too. This is also why squeaky toys have been ruined for the puppy, he hears them all the time!
On another note, we have learned that nature items here are “Blue” not “Green”. For example, broccoli literally translates to “blue cauliflower”. There are also blue mangoes here, not green mango. Going Blue anyone?
