One of the things they taught us at second language acquisition was the power of the word, “yet”.  By adding this simple word to the end of a sentence, the sentence becomes something to look forward to.  Let me give you some examples.

  • “My mouth can’t make some of these sounds…yet.”
  • “I can’t find what I am looking for…yet.”
  • I don’t know how to say that…yet.”

See the difference?  It’s a great way to shape our attitudes, especially when it comes time to learning a language.  And no, I don’t know how to say the word, “yet” in Khmer…YET!

This is our last full week of language school for Module 1.  Tomorrow we select our time for the exam next Monday or Tuesday.  Because so much of the exam is spoken, we all sign up for individual time slots.  I’m getting nervous, but excited too!
